A huge thank you to the lovely My Thoughts blog for nominating me! She posts on “a little bit of everything”—from beauty and fashion to food and charming DIYs. Do stop by her blog, I’m sure you’ll love it!

My Questions Answered

  1. Where do you see your blog in 5 years? Honestly I’m not sure, but I’m excited to see what the future holds!
  2. What was the most challenging post (in terms of editing pictures, writing/explaining) you’ve done so far? Most likely my latest post, Bird Sketches—there were quite a few elements involved, but it was definitely worth it!
  3. What is your favorite movie? The live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast!
  4. How do you find ideas for posts? I write a post whenever inspiration strikes—which can happen anywhere and anytime.
  5. What is your favorite post that you’ve written? I would have to go with one of my more recent ones, One Butterfly.
  6. What is a pet peeve of yours? When people chew with their mouths open.
  7. What is your favorite quote? Ooh, this is a hard one. Of all of the wonderful quotes in the world, “simplicity is the ultimate form of sophistication” (Leonardo da Vinci) is probably my favorite.
  8. What are the characteristics of a good blog post, in your opinion? Every blogger has a different writing style, but in my opinion, the best blog posts have at least one image and interesting and relevant content that draws the reader in.
  9. What have you learned from blogging? Everyone has a different point of view.
  10. When not blogging, what do you do for fun? In my spare time, I enjoy doing art, solving puzzles, writing, playing volleyball, and singing.
  11. Two random facts about you. 1) My favorite animals are ducks and turtles, and 2) ever since I was little, I’ve loved folding origami.

Real Neat Blogger Award

Rules of the Award

  1. Thank the person who nominated you
  2. Answer 7 questions asked by your nominator
  3. Nominate any number of bloggers you like and inform them of the nomination
  4. Ask your nominees 7 questions

Another first for me! Thank you Cherylene, author of Living vs Existing, for this nomination—a blogger who is real neat in every way. She writes excellent poetry and posts on various topics, such as health and wellness, everyday life, and simply thinking out loud. Make sure you stop by her blog and leave a like or a comment!

My Questions Answered

  1. Name your 3 favorite foods. Curry, burritos, and chocolate ice cream. Need there be further explanation?
  2. Do you prefer watching sports or playing sports? It depends on the sport. My two favorite sports to play are volleyball and tennis, but I most enjoy watching basketball and football.
  3. Would you choose a vacation in Hawaii or Alaska? Why? I’d love to visit both, but if I had to choose one, I’d probably visit Hawaii—there’s so much color everywhere! Although I’m sure Alaska is just as pretty.
  4. If you could go back in time, what year would you travel to? I would travel back 13.7 billion years to the Big Bang (sheltered in a Bang-proof spaceship, of course) and witness the creation of our universe.
  5. What has been your biggest challenge? Overcoming writer’s block. Often I take quite a while to figure out what to write about, and then end up changing my mind and writing about something completely different. There are so many stories I’ve started and haven’t finished!
  6. Something you miss the most from childhood? Comic books! My favorite is the Calvin and Hobbes series—all of their little schemes are so funny and genius and are guaranteed make me laugh.
  7. What does a perfect day look like to you? I start the day off with a good, hearty breakfast. Then I visit the library and check out all of the books I’ve been meaning to check out for months. After getting some exercise and blogging a little, I spend time with my family for the rest of the day, maybe watch a movie or play a game after dinner. Then I get my ideal 9 hours of sleep and wake up the next morning feeling refreshed. Yay!

There are so many bloggers I’d love to nominate—the list would probably fill quite a few pages. Therefore, I am going to break the rules and nominate all of you! If you’d like to do this award, please feel free! If not, no worries—just keep being the real neat person you are!

Why I Started Blogging

I started blogging near the end of December. I was looking for an easy way to share my thoughts and projects with the world, and I also liked the prospect of having my own website. Blogging makes me happy, and I do it mainly to relax—which is why my favorite time to blog is in the evening after a long day. I actually created Novely, my original site, in November, but for some reason the ideas just didn’t seem to flow. A month later, I started Turtledesk, and writing came to me so much easier. I love blogging, and I hope to continue with Turtledesk for years to come.

Blogging Advice

Although I’m not a seasoned blogger yet (and I know some who are), I hope I can share a bit of helpful advice.

Blog about what you love! This is probably why my first blog lost its momentum after a few days. I love art and writing, so that’s been my main focus since the beginning.

Actively engage in the blogging world. I think the best way to publicize your thoughts is to like and comment on other blogs you can relate to and participate in discussions that the Daily Post offers, such as the Community Pool. While you’re there, do make sure to reply to the comments of other bloggers who are looking for feedback!
